It's My Party

We had a small family party on Saturday, after Lola's birthday. Grandma Linda came for the weekend, and Jill came over too! Meghan gave Lola a tutu when she was born, and she finally fits into it. She looked like such a big girl! Lola got a farm with animals from Nana & Bub. Grandma Linda brought Uncle Andrew's xylophone, Dan's old recorder, and a great new pull toy. Lola LOVES the recorder! She plays it well!

Happy Birthday to...Lola!

March 15th was Lola's 1st birthday! I cannot believe that she is already one year old! We went to to the grocery store in the morning...her favorite place to go! Then we spent time playing at home, and had pictures taken later in the afternoon. Gram made a dress for my mom (Nana) when she was one, and my mom took pictures of me and Rachael in the same dress. My mom saved the dress and gave it to Lola a few months ago, and now she is the third generation to wear the cute red and white dress on her special day!
We celebrated her birthday with dinner, presents, and dessert with Nana, Bub (Stevo) and Meeko, my parents new dog. Auntie Rach also joined us via Skype!

I made a Happy Birthday banner with my friend, Staci's help. I borrowed the idea from my creative friend, Toni. I think it turned out really cute and I'm so excited to have this for our family to hang up every year for birthdays!

What a smile! Too cute!

Eating...or just having fun with Nana???

Lola would love it if Meeko would just curl up next to her so she could smother him! He just won't hold still for her! Probably smart of him!

Opening a present from Katy & Abbo, Lola's godparents.

Checking out the ladybug scooter that Nana & Rach picked out.

Eye on the prize :)
A little taste of brownie & ice cream. First sweets...

Bub, feeding Lola her birthday dessert.

Lola loves dessert. It's official, she definitely belongs to us! HAPPY BIRTHDAY LOLA!!!

Around the house

It's hard to tell in the picture, but there are rainbows on the floor that Lola is admiring. When I was growing up, I spent a lot of time at Gram & Papa's house. Gram had two prisms that she would display in her window and on the coffee table. When I was younger, we would dance around her living room, chasing the rainbows. Years later, we would sit and do our homework at their dining room table every day. I would often catch myself daydreaming when the afternoon sun was shining through the window, creating those same rainbows that I couldn't keep my eyes off of.

For Valentine's Day this year, I asked Dan to buy a prism for me and Lola. Now, every sunny morning, we crawl around, touching the rainbows on the floor. She smiles every time she sees the prism and laughs when she sees the rainbows in our living room. It's such a simple thing, but it makes me feel closer to Gram & Papa.

I heated up some macaroni & cheese for Lola the other day. She usually loves it, but threw it on the floor and wanted what I was eating. Mushroom Ravioli. Turns out she loves it. I barely had any because I had to share almost all of it with her!

Nana reading Lola her bedtime stories.

I got this idea to make matching dolls for Lola and her friend Kinslee. I finished this one for Kinslee, and am still working on Lola's. She kissed this one before we packed it up to mail to Seattle for Kinslee's birthday.
