Boy, oh Boy!

We waited until Lola and Mac were born to find out their gender (I was wrong with my guesses for both of them!) but because the kids are at the ages where they really understand, we thought we would find out early. We had our ultrasound and without looking, brought the sealed envelope with the gender to our favorite cupcake place. They made four cupcakes for us with either pink or blue frosting. On Saturday morning, we let the kids eat them and discover for themselves what we are having while Dan and I took pictures and recorded the exciting event. Before we started, we all gave our gender predictions. Dan, Lola and I thought girl, while Mac was sure it was a boy...

Lola went straight for the middle, while Mac was distracted by the chocolate on top.
I got so excited when Lola, mouth full of cupcake, yelled out, "It's blue! It's a boy!" that I only got her excited face and missed the cupcake in the picture!
Mac realized that he should see if his cupcake was also a "boy" cupcake...
...and was pleasantly surprised that his cupcake was also a boy inside!
My little princess. The perfect big sister for two brothers! I am so happy that she is so excited!

Prarie Life

One of the most important thing kids must do when moving into a new house: try our all the bath tubs. They probably love their tub the most, and Mac's favorite thing to do in the morning these days is to take a shower with Dan in our bathroom.

Soon after we moved in, it was Lola's spring break, and we spent most if it in our house, enjoying our new space together.

They decided to play Rudy and Rudolph, got Santa's sleigh ready, and asking for Christmas music and red noses. My imaginative little reindeer :)

Sneaking out to get a closer look at our neighbors, the deer and turkeys which pay a visit every day.

Mornings together. We have been telling the kids about our favorite things to anticipate with the new baby. One of which is skin-on-skin time. Dan said to them, "Mama will have a lot of skin-on-skin time with the baby, but it's important for us to get some time too so that the baby can smell us and be comforted by us too." Now, the kids love coming into our bed in the morning, taking their shirts off like their Daddy, and having their own skin-on-skin time.
"Hey Mac, what are you doing out there?" I ask. "Just playing in this goop!"
I really love the outfit he put together!

Home Sweet Home

Alright, to my sweet college friends (Meghan, Katy, Via) who have been asking for pictures, I FINALLY got around to taking pictures of our house! I am loving putting our home together. We have really focused on the inside, and are now thinking about the patio, walkways, and grass. I know we have quite a long time to live here and work on this place, but Dan and I are so excited about all of our ideas we have for it! We are really enjoying our new home and are ready for company :)
Our room, and new King sized bed (which we still often share with Mac, and are LOVING having more room for him to take over and feel less squished!)
My claw foot tub that I was SO excited to pick out!
 Master bathroom
Mac's room. Dan is sure that he has the best view in the house. He sees a lot of wildlife, the grain silos and tractors farming the land to the west, and the sunsets. It's perfect for him!

Lola's lavender bedroom. She picked out this color last May! It's her haven where she can keep her many treasures and have some quiet time. She loves it.
I love that she is using the antique bed that I used when I was little.
The kids bathroom. I love the way the lights and the mirror turned out!
 The guest bedroom/Dan's work space
 Guest bathroom
I love my lavender powder room! I used the same lavender from Lola's room and it is her favorite bathroom too!
The great room, and the greatest wall of windows!

Our piano nook in the kids playroom. The small door leads to the space under the stairs, which we had wired for a lamp and carpeted so the kids can hideout. They love it!
The playroom shelves that Dan built. They are amazing, and his first Pinterest project that I requested from him.

 My kitchen desk nook.
The spot I use most in the house: the sink/stove/fridge area! I am incredibly please with everything about our kitchen. It is inspired by a kitchen I found online, and we really used it as a starting point when designing our whole house. I hope everyone feels as comfortable in it as I do!

Our own little piece of heaven.
