Long Lost Photos

When I was about 6 months pregnant with Lola, my family knew that my grandpa, Papa, wasn't going to be around for much longer. Being especially close my whole life with Gram & Papa, I never wanted to think about there ever being a possibility that they wouldn't be here. I wanted so badly for Papa to meet my baby, and when she was born, he got to be around for the first 6 weeks of her life. The last time he left his house before Hospice, he came to meet Lola, his seventh great grandchild. I didn't take any photos because I was pretty emotional about it and wanted to soak up every second of their meeting. My mom assured me that she would share the photos she was taking on her camera. Somehow, she misplaced the photos on her computer and I had thought for the past year that they were long gone, which made me so sad because they were the only photos I had of Papa and Lola. About a month ago, she found them. I am so grateful to have these photos to share with Lola.

He just stared at her sweet little face and smiled. Before he left, he looked at me with a smile, grabbed my hand and said, "You did good." He was a man of little words, but they always meant the world to me.

Gram met Lola the day she was born, and had to hold her every time she saw her. She would tell me stories of her own babies, and usually pick out features on Lola that she thought looked like me or Dan. And of course, she ALWAYS had something to say about Lola's outfits, even if she was just in pajamas.

On Saturday, we were in Mirabeau Park for a Team in Training picnic and Easter Egg Hunt. Lola and I saw a family taking pictures with bunnies, so I brought her over to see them. The family was really kind and let her pet them. She was really interested and not afraid at all when they hopped over to her!

Checking out the goods in her Eater basket. She got her first "toddler" crayons, some paper, books, and animal magnets. Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed is a new favorite, to which Lola says "No Mo Mo!" She's also really into animal sounds right now so Polar Bear, Polar Bear is great, and she spends all her time playing with the animal magnets when I'm cooking!

As long as the eggs are within reach, Lola is GREAT at egg hunts! She puts them in the basket one by one and celebrates each one by clapping!

Baby...in Vegas!

We hadn't seen Rachael since Christmas, so we decided that a girls trip in Vegas was necessary! Nana, Lola and I flew down together for some sun, shopping, delicious food, and FUN!

The girls, after the BEST Mexican food I have ever had! Lola couldn't get enough tortillas and beans!

Swimming with Ree-ree!

Dada??? Bub???

Yogurtland. Delicious. Last time I was in Vegas, I was four months pregnant and couldn't get enough of this stuff. Turns out I don't have to be pregnant to eat this stuff all weekend :)

Visiting Rachael's preschool classroom. Lola has found the man of her dreams. Isn't he a cutie!

Miss Rachael and some of her cute students!

Thanks for the wonderful visit Rach! We love you and your Vegas sunshine!

So big!

Mom's craft project.

I've been laminating pictures of family and friends, and making them into magnets for Lola to play with. She loves them, and now I'm making them to send to friends too!

She's getting SO big! Standing on her own and pulling herself up everywhere!

Lola says "Baby" all the time, so I bought her a little baby to play with.

She loves her!

Dan, taking a snooze with his Bug. No wonder he likes putting her down for a nap!
