Nana & Bubs

Coach Bub, talking Lola through her first hoop session.

Dan gets in on the action and teaches Lola what it's like to dunk.

Snow Day!

After reading books about playing in snow & snowmen for 2 1/2 months, it finally snowed in Spokane (Seattle even got snow before us this year!) Dan promised Lola that they would build a snowman together so they headed to the backyard for some fun in the snow...
at least most of it was fun...
Taking a break to eat some walnuts that were also used for the snowman's mouth.
Lola saw me with the camera, grabbed Dan's arm and said "Look at mama, dada. Smile!"
What a ham.
 Lola and the snowman.
She checks every morning to make sure he's still there and yells hello to him. I asked her what his name is, and she said "Snowman." I also asked if he says anything to her and he says "Hi Lola!" One of the books we read together is Snowmen at Night, and she's certain that her snowman goes to the park at night to swing.
The not so fun part...Lola is not a fan of being pulled in the sled in the snow. The ride was very short lived. Maybe next year!

Painting for Aunties

Some quiet music, paints, and canvas turned into an hour of thoughtful painting.

Lunchtime Entertainment

I love that Lola breaks into song in the middle of a meal. She is singing so much these days, and constantly entertaining us.

Dan's Birthday

Dan turned 28! We ate well all day: banana pancakes for breakfast, taco truck for lunch, and then ended the day with a lobster dinner. Lola picked the dessert...

 Coloring with Mama Bear
When I told Lola that Dan's birthday was coming up, her response was, "Daddy's birthday? He needs a cake!" So she and I made him a chocolate cake for his birthday. Her favorite parts were the frosting and putting on the candles.
The day after Dan's birthday, we went to Jump'n'Bounce with some coop preschool friends, and brought Grandma Linda to join in on the fun!

The last of 2011

Here's the last few pics that I have from 2011. It was a great year, with a lot of wonderful things that happened in our household, and we are excited about the adventures in 2012! A few weeks late, but happy new year to you all!

After Christmas, we had our ultrasound for baby #2. Here's one of the pictures of our sweet baby, and it looks like he/she is sucking their thumb. We did not find out what the gender of our baby will be, and are not planning on having anymore ultrasounds, so this will be another surprise! Looking forward to meeting our latest addition in May 2012!
Hanging out with Lola's buddy, Jake, and loving his Aquadoodle.
Cuddling with Bub while watching the Zags.
Lola's new habit: putting on her mama's shoes. Not surprising that she's a shoe lover. She comes from a long line of shoe-loving women, starting with her Great Grammy.
Potty Training!!! Lola is entering 2012 without diapers!
Success! Happy new year!

Christmas 2011

Finally, our Christmas 2011 pictures! It was a really busy day. We were up at the lake for a few days with Dan's family, opened presents with them in the morning, drove back home, opened a few presents there, and headed to my family's place for dinner and the last of the gifts. Whew!
A little Christmas elf.
Decorating...and eating a gingerbread house. An m&m for the house...an m&m for Lola.
Our stocking were hung by the chimney with care.
Santa found us at the lake!
Enjoying some hot cocoa and Andrew's famous whipped cream before breakfast.
Lola painted a picture frame for Uncle Andrew.
Saving the best for last: Beca and I were spoiled with jewelry from Jack & Linda. Beca got a Mexican ruby and I got my first Ellensburg blues!
Taking a break from opening gifts.
Back in Spokane. Smelling Bub's new Birkenstocks.
At the end of our crazy day, Lola opened her last envelopes from the advent calendar. She was excited to find baby Jesus. Check out her undies. Santa brought them to her :)

Family Yoga

Before Lola was born, Dan and I did yoga together twice a week at a studio with an amazing instructor and group of people. I don't know why, but I never even thought how much more effort it would take to get to a yoga class after Lola was born, let alone try to go together.

I tried to find some quiet time before Dan and Lola woke up to enjoy my own yoga, but that never really worked out. Instead of being frustrated, I gave in a came up with a new idea...family yoga. We get up, get all three of our mats out (yes, Lola has her own purple mat that our yoga instructor gave her) and we get through a yoga dvd with Lola following along, bringing books and toys to her mat, cooking us food at her kitchen, and crawling under our downward dogs to give us kisses.

Turns out, family yoga might be my favorite kind of yoga!
