I literally remember the day Lola was born like it was yesterday. (Another thing that parents constantly tell you when you first bring a baby home, and no mater how much you hear what they say, every year that Lola gets older, I am amazed at just how much I feel that way still). I remember Dan announcing that we had a girl, and immediately I felt so intensely connected with her and began to remember all of the things that I loved doing as a little girl and imagined us doing them together. When I first held her, I thought to myself, "You are my new best friend." I still feel that way. She is such a gift.
A little bit about four year old Lola: She weighs in at a whopping 33 pounds and measures 39 3/8". She has been making a list of all the things that she will be able to do now that she's four. Tie her shoes, take piano & ballet lessons, and ride on an escalator without any hand holding. She is very inquisitive, but only asks a question once because she remembers everything we tell her (it's amazing how much we forget and she remembers!) After working with her at home, she knows all her letters and letter sounds, the days of the week, months of the year, can count to 30 and recognizes 1-20. She's a puzzle master, sings and rhymes all day long, loves to paint and draw, is such an amazing big sister, is a master at negotiating, and is the most amazing mommy to all of her many babies. She is such a sweet girl, extremely considerate, kind, smart, and so fun-loving. Happy 4th Birthday Lola Bug!
A month long request: Lola wanted to eat out the night before her birthday at Pho Van.
We told her since she was turning four, she was definitely big enough to have a pinata at her birthday. She has been eyeing the pinatas at De Leons, our favorite Mexican deli, for quite some time and was ecstatic to pick out her very own pink, purple, and turquoise pinata to bring home.
Spending the morning of her birthday with the Bennett girls who were in town was the BEST start to her birthday. Breakfast at the Little Garden Cafe and playing in the park.
Proud parents of a four year old.
Lola's cake request this year was a pink cake, so I pulled out Grammy's strawberry cake recipe to make. Papa would eat the leftovers for breakfast. I have to say, it was so yummy!
We had to bring Rachael to get the job done!
So happy to have her sweet friend Kinslee in town!
An umbrella from Nana.
Dan made Lola a balance beam for the back yard. She was so excited!
Tuckered birthday girl.
