Somewhere in middle America

The day after school got out, we kicked off summer break with a trip to the Midwest. I had not been back to Nebraska since I was twelve, and I was really looking forward to visiting my friends and family, seeing my old houses, and doing it all with Dan and the kids! We started off in Omaha where we rented a minivan (road-tripping through the Midwest in a minivan was one of the things my family did best in the 80s and early 90s!) and stayed in a great hotel in downtown Omaha. We drove to Columbus to spend the day with my cousins, Abby & Lizzy, and their families. We swam and picnicked at the park near Liz's house, then played and had dinner at Abby's house, where my Aunt Beth, Aunt Terry & Uncle Mike joined us. My favorite part of the day was sitting around the table at Abby's with Dan, Abby, Zach, Liz & Chuck, and relived our favorite childhood memories.

We spent the next day at the Omaha Zoo with Aunt Terry. The zoo was amazing and the kids absolutely loved the Alaskan themed splash pad. It was a quick stay in Omaha but so worth it to see my family. On Tuesday, we were off to Lincoln!!!
