Yesterday, Lola and Mac were noticing many other kids wearing costumes and decided to wear theirs on Day 3 of Disney. Today's Magic Morning cracked me up. There is always a mad dash to popular rides like Magic Mountain and Peter Pan, but our kids wanted to start at the Small World ride. We were the FIRST people to get on the ride that morning and had empty boats following us. After the ten minute ride, there was still no line and they asked if we would like to stay in our boat and go around a second time. The kids were thrilled, and Hank was ready for a nap so he nursed and took a snooze.
Then we made our way to the teacups so that I could ride with the kids while Hank napped with Dan, and then we made our way to have breakfast with Minnie and friends. (Side note: Mac was dressed as Peter Pan and there were already a handful of adults commenting on how he was Peter Pan, and even a couple of kids who believed he was really Peter Pan and yelled out to him, waving). Walking onto the patio for breakfast, the first person we saw was Captain Hook. Mac panicked, hid behind me and when I knelt down to talk to him, he took a deep breath as tears welled up in his eyes. He told me that he was afraid Captain Hook would believe he was the real Peter Pan and want to fight him and he didn't have a sword or pixie dust. I reminded him that everyone is kind at Disneyland and we met him together, although Mac was still very unsure of his safety :)
On to the other furry characters...the kids loved meeting and greeting everyone and getting their autographs and pictures taken with them. Mac and I stepped out of the garden at one point to use the restroom, and who should we find, but Peter Pan for the first time! He saw Mac and came right up to him, examining his outfit and telling him that he really liked the way he was dressed. He asked us to meet him in a different part of the park in 15 minutes while he made a quick trip back to Neverland.
On our way to meetup with Peter, Mac made his decision of what he wanted as his souvenir choice, so we stopped by the Castle and bought a sword. Perfect timing. Peter wanted to hear all about it. When he arrived at our meeting spot, there was a long line of kids waiting to meet him, and he bypassed them to come chat with Mac. Turns out Mac and Peter have a lot in common; they both like PB & J sandwiches, their favorite color is green, they believe in fairies, and they like to play tricks on Captain Hook. Mac spent the rest of our day referring to him as "my buddy Peter". Love.
We made our way to Toon Town to meet Mickey, and then after naps, ate dinner with Uncle Teal who was in town for work. Lola thought about her souvenir choice all day, and decided she wanted to make a Bear at the Build-a-Bear Workshop (just like her teacher, Mrs. Wells did when she visited with her boys). She made a bear and dressed her with Minnie ears to match hers, then named her Bluebell. A great memory to end our day.
